My WLS Journey
12/03/03
Well I went to my 6 week nutrition class tonight. Boy is Carrie ever smart! I learn something new everytime I talk to her. I only lost 1.8# last week but when you consider that it was over Thanksgiving that's not bad at all. When was the last time you lost weight during a 10 day vacation and a major holiday? Not only that but my BMI is now down to 60.

The WLS Open House was really nice. It was fun seeing the old timers all jolly and the newbies all joyous about their successes and the pre-ops excited to be part of the whole thing. The buffet was sumptious but alas I did not partake. Food isn't my focus any longer and I know if I make it so, then I'll fall into old habits.
I had been planning on weighing at the center and had been joking that there would be a longer line for the scale than for the food. The good folks at the center hid the scales! Can you believe it? Anyway, I came back to weigh the next day and the scales were broken! The company had to come out and calibrate them and rebalance them. I think the act of moving and hiding the scales was what did it in.
I try not to obsess about my weight and don't really worry about it till Fridays when I go in for my weekly weigh session but after the scale fiasco on Friday I haven't been able to think of anything else. The scales on 11Roberts are out of whack and my home scales aren't accurate above 300 pounds. I need to find a butcher shop or freight shipper that can help me out... I'll be glad when I hit 299 and can weigh myself in the bathroom like normal folks...

Well, I broke down and bought a new scale today. It is accurate up to 400 pounds and is pretty close to what the center's scale said I weigh. I weighed and recorded what the scale says, even though it is probably off by 5#'s or so. Next week I'll weigh again and that will give me a good indication of how my weight loss is going, even if it isn't exactly the same weight as the WLS Center's scale.

I weighed again today (I like owning an accurate scale...) but this time without clothes. Shoes and pants and a shirt weighed 5 pounds. Again, this is all "non-official" weight loss but I'm trying to get to a consistant point by weighing on the same scale, at the same time, in the same clothes (or in my case, no clothes at all) so that I can get an accurate picture of what's going on with my weight loss. At this rate the office scales are about 10 pounds heavier due to clothes, etc, but if I keep weighing consistantly on mine then it'll give me a good indication of where I'm headed.
