My WLS Journey

359# 01/01/04

Well, I don't make New Year's Resolutions but I have started walking again every day. I'm back up to a mile in under 24 minutes. I'm no Jesse Owens but I'm pretty proud of a lazy bum like me for getting out there and doing something about my future. Now that I've got an accurate scale at home I've been weighing every day. Because of the way I stand on it, the position on the floor, etc. the dial has been fluctuating between 359 and 361. I'll go to the center sometime after the holidays to compare with the "official" scale but for now I'm pretty happy.

I'm 358# still but this morning I FINALLY finished the last of my pepcid. I didn't mind taking the pills twice a day and I figure they saved my tummy from all sorts of nasty side effects, but today is another milestone in my WLS journey. I still have about 100 Flintstones left so it'll take a few months to eat all of them and get back to my oral vitamins but that's my next "pill" hurdle. I'm completely off my CPAP (and have been for some time) but I finally packed it up and put it out in the garage. Yesterday I wore a pair of pants to work and kept having to "hitch" them up. The waist band popped out of my belt and the folds of the pants were just horrible. They were 64's and I washed them and will take them to the BB Clothing Exchange tomorrow. Life is good.

I went to the center to weigh today. Just as I expected, the office scale is 10 pounds heavier than mine at home. It's due to the floor surface of my bathroom and the clothes on my back. My official weight is 367.5# which is still a 76.6# loss so I'm still losing and still happy.

Well Folks, I did something this morning I haven't done since I was a teenager. I reached down in my car and pulled up my socks! Now to a normal-sized person there doesn't seem to be anything remarkable about that. BUT for me it was HUGE! Not only could I reach my socks but I could actually have room around my steering wheel to move. Granted, I have a new SUV, but even before when I was at my fattest I couldn't maneuver around the steering wheel when I test drove the SUVs. I'm only 10 pounds away from Joining the Century Club so it looks like it'll be sometime in February. I'm losing a pound about every 2-5 days so at this rate I'll get there before March 7th and as early as the end of January. I think I'll shoot for Valentine's Day but not worry about it until the Ides of March. Be good people!

Today I got on the scales and had to step off and step back on again. I lost 3 pounds since yesterday! I've been losing at about 1 pounds every 2 or 3 days. I'm used to losing 3 pounds in a week but not in a DAY! I'm only 6.9 pounds away from the Century Club!

I spent the last week in Las Vegas at a week-long IBM Meeting. I didn't drink and I didn't overeat and I lost 1/2 a pound along the way. The hotel was huge and I got a LOT of walking in.
