08/01/09 Well now that I'm on my way I am going to update this page to reflect my current journey only, not my previous RNY.

08/02/09 We went out shopping (instead of eating) and tried out scales. I'm not buying one-Robin's works but just up to 330#. I was surprised that I've dropped another 5# since the Support Group Meeting last Thursday. I walked around the neighborhood this morning and have been playing on the Wii throughout the day.

08/08/09 Thursday I weighed at Target again and was down another pound. I went back on Friday but it was later in the day and I had on jeans rather than my work pants. It was also the first day I had eaten "real" food - mushy mashed potatoes and soft-cooked carrots. Anyway, I had gained half a pound from the day before. It had also gone from 369.something to 370.something - nevermind it was only 1/2 a pound - it was a gain AND the second digit went up (kind of like I had gained 10 #s).

I know that's silly but I really felt bad - that's part of my whole obsession thing I'm going to have to work on. Anyhow, I didn't have my snack that night and did 40 minutes on the Wii. I got up this morning and went for a 44 minute walk and bought the scale from Target since I was going there daily anyway. I was back down to 365.5, whew. I came home and had a one egg omelet and will go out later and cut the grass for more exercise.

08/09/09 My second day of stage 2 (mushy foods) went well. I had low fat refried beans with TONS of veggies and a bit of cheese on top for dinner. I lost another 3.8 # since yesterday but that's because I weighed at home without clothes. Still, I am celebrating the loss! BMI down another point. Just 40 more pounds till I get down to the next BMI classification. Who thought "morbidly obese" would be a cause for happiness? Hey, it's better than SUPER OBESE.

08/10/09 We went to a good-bye dinner for some friends of ours last night. I was going to get some soup that I saw on their online menu but when we got there it wasn't on the printed sheet. I ended up getting and egg and veggie dish that fit in with my mushy food guidelines-I just ate too much of it. Today the scale went up a pound so I'm being vigilant about what I eat today and we're going walking for longer tonight.

08/11/09 The scale went UP again! It's only 0.2# but it's getting discouraging. We played on the Wii for over 40 minutes last night but I think I need to walk most days and not rely solely on the Wii for my workout.

08/13/09 Well the hard work paid off-the scale is going in the right direction again. Yesterday was Robin's birthday. I got her a small cake but didn't have any. I was going to get a sugar free cake but each slice was 230 calories and had 21 sugar alcohols - yikes! We are planning on walking again tonight. I'd really like to be down 40# by my appointment on the 24th. That's only 4 more pounds in the next 10 days so I feel confident that I can do it.

08/17/09 We went to a BBQ yesterday and it was my last day of mushy food - argh! NO MEAT. So while everyone was busy with their hot dogs and cheeseburgers and mac n cheese and homemade ice cream I had a banana with two tablespoons of peanut butter. Later for dessert I had sugar free applesauce. It was heck but I was proud of myself afterwards. The scale didn't move but at least it didn't go up. Tonight we are back to walking!

08/22/09 I've been doing pretty good lately although I haven't been out walking as much as i should have this last week. While the scale has been going down for the most part, the last two days it has started to creep up. I need to get out and burn off those calories and get my metabolism up there.

08/23/09 We went walking for 45 minutes yesterday and I did a lot of Wiiing (is that how that's spelled?). The darn scale still went up... Oh well, all the more reason to keep at the exercise and eating right... Monday is my one month followup with Felts' office...

08/24/09 I had my one month followup with Dr. Felts today. They were all pleased with my progress (loss). I need to get my protein up to 60 grams but other than that everything was fine.

08/31/09 All the protein from turkey and exercising has helped. My BMI is under 55 finally.
