Hello Creative Light fans,
I wanted to stop by today to talk about my new movie: Creature Unknown. I am really excited about this movie. I was just finishing up Terminal Invasion with Bruce Campbell when I received the script for Creature Unknown and loved it because it was completely different role.
It's a fun, horror movie with a masterful plot and a great twist at the end. I play the character Kat who is this true grit character. She's a brilliant and sophisticated scientist who has been forced to turn into an unfeeling motorcycle riding shell of a person who exhibits really no feelings. That's the dilemma of the character as she has to portray this rough exterior character but she has this huge moral concern that eats at her. The life and death decisions she makes cause physical and psychological issues for her.
Many fans here will recognize the name of the director of this movie, Michael Burnett from his work on Star Trek as the brilliant special effects artist. This movie is Michael's directorial debut. This was my first chance to really work with Michael. Michael has a rare talent usually not found in first time directors in that he can assist the actor with connecting with the character but also he understands the technical aspects of filming from his previous screen work. He's an up and coming director to watch out for.
Eric Mittleman's script is both fun and commercial. It is intriguing as it's not trite summer movie 'fare.' The great casting job done by Creative Light put together a tight group of actors that supported each other through out the filming. That's such a wonderful combination to have when doing a movie and my job of acting became less of a job and more like a fun pleasure to work with this talented group.
Speaking of the cast, I understand that this group is familiar with two of the cast members, Laurie Shiers and Kristin Herold. Scott Zakarin is a genius at casting a group thatís tight fitting and a pleasure to work with. Both Laurie and Kristin as well as the entire cast were a dedicated group of professionals. We cheered each other on during filming and thatís something you donít always find in casts.
Another great aspect of this movie is the timeframe we took to shoot the film; it was a tight two week filming schedule and really should be inspiring to the independent film maker. The budget for the movie was modest and shows that quality films can be made without block buster movie budgets. It really brings moviemaking to an approachable level.
Iíll be appearing at the following stores and conventions to promote the movie. Stop by and say hello.
